Shinkafi, who is the Executive Director of the Patriots for the Advancement of Peace and Social Development, addressed journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, expressing concerns about Lawal’s approach to tackling insecurity.
He noted that the situation in Zamfara has worsened, with bandit attacks increasing.
Shinkafi cited the resignation of Former Inspector General of Police, MD Abubakar, as Chairman of the Zamfara State Security Trust Fund’s Board of Trustees as evidence of the state’s ineffective security strategy.
He claimed that in response to mounting criticism, the government reconstituted the security trust fund, appointing Brig-Gen. Abdulkadir Gumi as chairman and Alh. Sambo Garba, MON, as chairman of the fundraising committee.
Shinkafi added, ‘The governor should focus on providing the dividends of democracy and security to the people. The residents of Zamfara deserve good governance and the benefits of democracy. It’s time for effective governance.
“We must prioritize cooperation to address insecurity, as it requires collective effort and commitment. Zamfara State’s security challenges demand urgent attention.
“The governor’s 100-day promise to end banditry remains unfulfilled. The people of Zamfara expect tangible progress on security. Effective leadership is crucial in addressing Zamfara’s insecurity.”
