The Gunners welcome PSG to north London looking to take a lead to Paris next week. After knocking European champions Real Madrid in the quarter-final, Mikel Arteta’s men are gunning for a spot in their first final since 2006.
PSG come to London on the back of knocking out Premier League winners Liverpool and Aston Villa in the competition. With Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in top-form, it’s set to be a nail-biting two-legged tie.
Earlier this season, Arsenal ran-out 2-0 winners in a comfortable evening in the league phase. However, Enrique warned his side are a ‘much better team’ than they were in October.
“That was seven or eight months ago,” he told reporters on Monday. “I saw the match again. We’re a much better team today.” Since the defeat earlier in the season, PSG have stormed the Ligue 1 title and produced a number of eye-catching displays in the Champions League.
After narrowly losing to Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich, Enrique’s side have beaten Manchester City, Stuttgart, Liverpool and Real Madrid. Despite the upturn in form, Enrique’s side have received a series of negativity from the French media.
Ahead of the game with Arsenal, Enrique faced questions from the French media over Vitinha’s form, set-piece vulnerability and results in the league phase of the Champions League. “No one is talking about the goals or the games we’ve won, let’s talk about our defeats, that’s fine,’ Enrique said.
“You can say everything you want, you can send everything my way. Our mindset is wonderful. The most unhappy or sad member of the squad is me so you can just imagine what the others are doing.’
He added: “Let me just specify. Maybe I am getting things wrong but when I’m talking about the negative climate, I’m not talking about the fans or the staff within the club.
“But yeah, the questions coming from the media and even the questions the journalists ask, I think it is quite negative but maybe that’s just me.”
