The disaster, which has displaced over 414,000 people and claimed at least 30 lives, has created a severe humanitarian crisis.

In a statement released on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, Governor Abiodun expressed concern over the devastating impact of the flood.

He emphasized the need for urgent support from across the nation to help alleviate the situation.

“I commiserate with my brother, Prof. Babagana Zulum, and the people of Borno State over the devastating flood, which has led to a humanitarian crisis of high magnitude,” Abiodun said in the statement.

“The government and people of Ogun State stand in solidarity with the people of Borno during this difficult time, and we will continue to keep them in our prayers.”

Acknowledging the inevitability of natural disasters, Governor Abiodun praised the swift response from the Borno State Government and the Federal Government. He noted that such efforts are crucial in bringing immediate relief to affected communities.

While the flood has left significant destruction in its wake, the Ogun State governor emphasized the importance of collective action to address the challenges.

“A prompt response, like that of the Borno and Federal Governments, will go a long way in ameliorating the situation,” he added.

Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has directed the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, to provide immediate assistance to flood victims in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
