Nigerias Ezinwa Okoroafor elected International President of Federation of Women Lawyers

Her election, whichh took place yesterday, Friday, November 8, was one of the highlights of the 38thInternational Triennial Convention of FIDA held at the Dann Carlton Hotel, Cali, Colombia, from November 4:

Reacting to the development, Barrister Ezinwa Okoroafor’s local FIDA Branch, Abuja, described it as well deserved, expressing confidence that her three-year tenure would be a successful one.

A statement signed by Chairperson, FIDA Abuja Branch, Chibuzo Maureen Nwosu, said: “On behalf of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria, Abuja Branch, I, Chibuzo Maureen Nwosu, extend our heartfelt congratulations to you, Mrs Ezinwa Okoroafor, on your election as the International President of International Federation of Women Lawyers. Your election is a testament to your unwavering dedication, proven leadership and commitment to FIDA, its members, and its mandate. We are confident that under your stewardship FIDA International will continue to thrive and achieve new heights.”

News Express reports that Mrs Ezinwa Nwanyieze Okoroafor has a long history of legal activism and previously served FIDA in various capacities, including as the International Secretary of FIDA in 2017. Before then, she was at various times Regional Vice President for Africa and National President for the Nigeria Branch. She was elected FIDA International Director in 2012.

Outside FIDA, Barrister Ezinwa Okoroafor served as Council Member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Women Forum, National Chairperson of the Society of Women in Taxation of Nigeria, and Delegate to the Nigeria National Conference of 2014.
