1. The Federal Government on Friday said it would intervene in the leadership crisis of the National Assembly after the suspension of the senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. The Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs Iman Suleiman-Ibrahim, gave the hint during the Meet-the-Press Programme at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

2. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Professor Attahiru Muhammadu Jega, former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as Special Adviser and Coordinator of the Presidential Livestock Reform. This was disclosed on Friday in a statement by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

3. A Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday admitted in evidence receipts of school fees paid to the American International School, Abuja, in favour of the children of the former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello. The receipts were among other documents tendered by the prosecution at the resumed hearing in the trial of the ex-governor on an N80.2 billion money laundering charge.

4. Efforts by the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike-backed factional South South Zonal leadership to be recognised by the Ambassador Umar Damagum-led National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, have failed. This is as the main opposition party has established a Caretaker Committee to be in charge of the South-South zone of the party.

5. A former Presidential Spokesman, Dr Doyin Okupe, is dead. He reportedly died in a hospital in Lagos from remission of cancer. Okupe who was Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications to President Goodluck Jonathan, died at the age of 72.

6. The Osun State Government has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to investigate the immediate past governor and current Minister of Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, over the alleged misappropriation of a $20m World Bank health grant. The government also accused Oyetola of money laundering, financial misconduct and violations of the Public Procurement Act in the disbursement of the grant meant for health sector improvements in the state.

7. The Minister of Power, Mr Adebayo Adelabu has condemned the attack by personnel of the Nigerian Air Force on the headquarters and facilities of the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) on Thursday. A statement by Mr Bolaji Tunji, the Special Adviser, Strategic Communications to the Minister of Power, said that the attack left several injured, facilities and equipment vandalised.

8. The All Progressives Congress has begun screening of seven governorship aspirants that purchased its Expression of Interest and Nomination forms to contest its ticket for the Nov. 8, 2025 election in Anambra. The nomination form was sold at N40 million, while the expression of interest form cost N10 million.

9. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has announced the conviction and sentencing of four drug kingpins to various prison terms by the Federal High Courts in Lagos and Yola, Adamawa. In a statement on Friday in Abuja, NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Mr Femi Babafemi, said the convicts were found guilty of trafficking cocaine and skunk worth over N4.6 billion.

10. A 52-year-old man, Salihu Byezhe, has died after slumping during Subhi (early morning) prayers at a mosque in Gudaba village, Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Friday. Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred after Byezhe had finished eating Sahur (pre-dawn meal ahead fasting), performed ablution and joined other worshippers for prayers.
