Elder statesman and leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, has declared that Nigeria is firmly on the path to greatness and will soon become a country that all its citizens can proudly call their own.
Fasoranti made this assertion during his 99th birthday celebration held on Monday at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, in Ondo State.
According to a statement by Afenifere’s National Publicity Secretary, Jare Ajayi, the nonagenarian expressed deep optimism about the future of the country, citing the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and the enduring resilience of the Nigerian people.
“Although Nigeria might have missed opportunities to develop in the past, hope is very much alive now that the country is on the path to progress and greatness,” Fasoranti affirmed.
He attributed his optimism to the vision and policies of the Tinubu administration, particularly the Renewed Hope Agenda, which he believes holds the promise of transformation for Nigeria.
His words: “Nigeria’s future is based on inspiration. When Tinubu came to me to express his desire to run for the presidency of Nigeria, I prayed to the Almighty and got a nod that the prayer would be answered.
“We continue to give glory and adoration to the Supreme Being for answering our prayers.”
Fasoranti also stressed the growing consciousness among the Yoruba people of their historic role in advancing the black race, describing the future as “very bright” for the region.
President Tinubu, in his tribute, hailed Fasoranti as “a model of exemplary leadership.” Other dignitaries echoed similar sentiments, commending the elder statesman’s legacy of public service, educational advancement, and community development.
Governors from the six South-West states also took turns to celebrate the Afenifere leader.
