According to security analyst and counterinsurgency expert Zagazola Makama, the heavily armed militants, in large numbers, overran the base and destroyed nine out of the 16 military vehicles stationed there. Weapons and ammunition were also looted during the assault.
In response, a military convoy of around 20 vehicles from the Niger Armed Forces (FAN) and another from the National Guard (GNN) were deployed from Tahoua to conduct operations in the area.
