Speaking at the unveiling ceremony of the Progressive Institute in Abuja, Bishop Kukah emphasized the urgency of addressing these critical issues, urging the government to “find the way of reducing the price of fuel, find the way of keeping our country secure, that will be the greatest legitimacy of any government.”
He also highlighted the importance of the newly launched Kukah Center Foundation, which aims to promote politics as a noble pursuit and seeks to engage Nigerians in this endeavor.
The Kukah Center Foundation desires to raise the bar and to seek the help of Nigerians to see politics as a noble pursuit. Our interest is to help politicians and appreciate and value knowledge so that we can make governance a science not a game of hit-and-miss. We want our politics to be based on sound reasoning and transparency, we want to help our country change the rules of engagements for politicians and political actors to know that, there is dignity in winning and there is dignity in losing,
Bishop Kukah explained.
We want politics to deliver development, justice, peace, and harmony to our people. This cannot be done in a vacuum, it has to be done by creating a level playing field. Nigerian and African politics has been consumed by mysticism, sorcery, cultism, necromancy, witchcraft, and shamanism, the Bishop lamented.
He added that the Institute is important because there is a need to move from speculation to Science.
