The recent arrest of Martins Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman, by security operatives in Abuja has sparked widespread reactions on social media. Among those voicing their support is his mentee and fellow activist, Veryfairman.
In a video circulating online, Veryfairman expressed concern over the detention of his mentor and issued a stern caution to those responsible, though he refrained from revealing any specific actions he might take. Instead, he urged Nigerians to unite in prayer for the detained social critic.
“Whoever is behind this, make sure not even a scratch touches VDM. Free VDM! Nigerians, what you owe him now are your prayers,” Veryfairman said in the video.
It is worth noting that in 2024, Verydarkman had publicly endorsed Veryfairman as his protégé, entrusting him with the responsibility of continuing his mission to speak out against injustice in Nigeria. A symbolic moment of this mentorship was captured in a viral video where Veryfairman knelt to receive an amulet from Verydarkman, who emphasized the importance of standing firmly against injustice.
