Dr. Halima Muhammad-Bande, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education and Chairperson of the Recruitment Committee, confirmed the development during the distribution of appointment letters to the first batch of recruits in Birnin Kebbi.

She revealed that 391 teachers with Degrees, Higher National Diplomas, and Postgraduate qualifications were deployed to post-basic schools, while another batch, primarily National Certificate in Education (NCE) holders, will be announced soon.

With 18,000 applications received and 4,000 candidates screened, Muhammad-Bande assured that the recruitment drive is ongoing to address the shortage of teachers.

“A teacher in Kebbi is a king because the governor himself is a teacher who values education,” she emphasized, adding that Governor Nasir Idris has committed to making teacher recruitment a continuous process.

Muhammad Garba-Bena, Chairman of the Kebbi House Committee on Education, praised the initiative, noting that it aligns with the government’s vision of improving education standards. He encouraged unsuccessful applicants to remain patient as more recruitment phases will follow.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Abubakar Magaji-Nayilwa, urged the newly hired teachers to be dedicated, emphasizing their vital role in shaping the future of the state.
