The cult activities and killings, according to the State government, were specially observed in Aba where cultists whose activities were previously nipped in the bud by the present administration, are staging a come-back.
The Special Adviser on Media to the Abia State Governor on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, who made this known in a press release, warned that the State government maintained zero tolerance for cultism and other acts of criminality.
Ekeoma, who said that full force of the the law would be visited on anybody or groups found indulging in any form of cultism or cult-related activities, said security agents and intelligence officers have been been deployed to streets, schools and neighborhoods to smoke out cultists and other criminals in parts of Abia State.
He expressed worry that some youths were constituting themselves as agents of terror in Abia despite various programs being rolled by the State government to solve unemployment.
The State government advised parents and guardians to call their children to order and to report suspected cultists to to the government, even as it promised to secure the lives and property of lawful citizens.
