According to the report, Abdulkadir, a student of the Faculty of Agriculture, was shot by members of the Joint Task Force (JTF) after he and a commercial motorcycle rider allegedly failed to stop at a security checkpoint.
The incident outraged students to take to the streets in protest, barricading the Dutsin-Ma–Katsina highway, burning tires, and disrupting vehicular movement.
Dailypost gathered that conflicting accounts have emerged regarding the circumstances of Abdulkadir’s death.
While some sources claim he was suspected of being an informant for bandits, others insist he was an innocent student who was mistakenly shot by security operative.
Eyewitnesses revealed that the security personnel opened fire after the motorcycle carrying Abdulkadir and another rider refused to stop, killing the student instantly while the motorcycle rider sustained injuries and was rushed to a hospital.
Enraged by the incident, students mobilized in large numbers, demanding justice for their slain colleague.
The protest escalated, prompting the deployment of security operatives, including soldiers and police officers, to restore order and persuade students to vacate the highway.
However, the Katsina State Police Command has launched an investigation to arrest the CJTF officer responsible, while security measures have been reinforced in the area to prevent unrest.
