BREAKING: Jigawa police apprehend ex-convict for car theft in Kiyawa

The suspect, a resident of Shuwarin town in Kiyawa Local Government Area, was found in possession of the stolen car, which bears the registration number MNA 139HK, Niger State.

According to a statement released by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Shi’isu Adam, the vehicle’s owner, Abdurrahman Sadiq, an employee of the Nigeria Institute of Oil Palm Research, reported the theft at the Dutse Police Division on February 21, 2025.

Sadiq had parked the car at Aujara village in Jahun Local Government Area but mistakenly left the key inside. By the next morning, he discovered that the vehicle was missing.

Preliminary investigations by detectives from the Dutse Division and the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) led to the arrest of Isa.

The suspect reportedly confessed to the crime during interrogation. Further checks revealed that he is an ex-convict with multiple charges related to motorcycle and tricycle theft.

“The suspect will be arraigned in court, where he will face the full force of the law. We will ensure that justice is served in this case,” SP Adam stated.

The Jigawa Police Command has urged vehicle owners to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to prevent theft.

The command advised motorists to always lock their vehicles and keep valuables out of sight. Additionally, the police encouraged the public to report any suspicious activities or stolen vehicles to authorities to aid in crime prevention.
