The suspect was arrested by police attached to the Gawu Babangida division in Gurara Local Government Area of the state, following an order from Justice A’isha Wodu Bawa, presiding judge of High Court 3 in Suleja.
Sarki will be remanded in a correctional centre alongside other suspects.
The murder occurred on 14 January 2023, when a group of irate youths stormed Abdulsafur’s residence, attacking him and his younger brother, Ibrahim Mohammed, resulting in severe injuries and, ultimately, Abdulsafur’s death.
The suspects face charges under sections 221, 113, 114, and 336 of the Penal Code.
The judge advised counsel against unnecessary delays in the court proceedings and adjourned the matter to 6–7 March and 27–29 April 2025 for a definite hearing.
