[BREAKING] Yobe: AGILE, CSOs meet to address girl-child education issues

The Executive Director of TCDI, Gambo Garba Muhammad, said the inception workshop served as a platform for dialogue, collaboration,and strategic planning.

He noted that it was also an opportunity for them to discuss the key components of the safe space and life skills programme, align with their efforts and develop actionable strategies to ensure its successful implementation in the state.

In her remarks, the Executive Director, Child protection and Women Empowerment initiative (CPWEI), Maryam Hassan, explained that the project would be implemented by TCDI.

She noted that the workshop served as an avenue to discuss with the stakeholders on the entire life skills concept and have inputs for successful implementation in the state.

Speaking at the programme,Yobe state Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Abdullah Bego, explained that the project will help the girl-child in completing their secondary schools and have useful skills.

Mr. Bego commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for his effort in ensuring the actualisation of the project in the state.

He urged the implementers to ensure that information and communication are integral in the implementing of the project.

“This would go along way in mitigating misconception of the project by the society,” he said.

Earlier in his remarks, Yobe AGILE Project Coordinator, Abdullahi Dahiru, revealed that AGILE, a Yobe state government project was supported by world bank with work plan designed by stakeholders from ministry of education and SUBEB among others.

He explained that, “the project is aimed to improve secondary education opportunities among girls in the targeted areas in the state.”
