IDOMA VOICE reports that Nigeria’s number of sub-national governments will increase to 67, as the country currently has 36 states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Here is the full list of the 31 new states proposed by Nigeria’s House of Representatives Committee on Constitution Review:

  2. Okura State – from Kogi
  3. Confluence State – from Kogi
  4. Benue Apa State – from Benue
  5. Apa State – from Benue
  6. FCT State – Federal Capital Territory
  7. Amana State – from Adamawa
  8. Katagum State – from Bauchi
  9. Savannah State – from Borno
  10. Muri State – from Taraba
  11. New Kaduna State – from Kaduna
  12. Gujarat State – from Kaduna
  13. Tiga State – from Kano
  14. Ari State – from Kano
  15. Kainji State – from Kebbi
  16. Etiti State – South East region
  17. Orashi State – South East region
  18. Adada State – from Enugu
  19. Orlu State – South East region
