Currently, the state workforce will receive a new minimum wage of N80,000, a figure the governor insists is sustainable given the state’s strides in agriculture. “This is a significant step forward,” Bago remarked. “We are confident that with our agricultural initiatives, we can support a minimum wage of N1 million for civil servants.”
To further enhance productivity among civil servants, the governor revealed plans to establish a civil service farm. “This will not only increase productivity but also provide additional income sources for our workforce,” he explained.
Governor Bago assured that the new minimum wage would be applicable to both state and local government employees, with the implementation set to begin in November. He noted that salaries for the current month have already been disbursed, signaling a proactive approach to addressing the needs of civil servants in Niger State.
