Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has directed an in-depth investigation to clarify the circumstances leading to the shooting, vowing that those responsible will face justice. The NPF expressed its commitment to restoring peace and stability in the region, underscoring its determination to hold the perpetrators accountable.
In addressing misinformation circulating in certain quarters, the NPF clarified that personnel from the Force Intelligence Department – Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) and the Edo State Command’s Department of Operations were promptly dispatched to the Oke Aroma area to manage the rising tensions. Upon arrival, officers reported finding the area deserted after conducting extensive patrols. It was confirmed that officers did not cross into either the Amagba or Obagie communities but have maintained a strong presence in Oke Aroma to deter further unrest and uphold public safety.
The NPF highlighted that police deployments are based on situational intelligence and operational need, not external pressure or influence.
The Force urges all residents to remain calm and cooperate fully with the investigation.
