Ugochinyere in a statement in Abuja reacting to the Court decision on Thursday said the Appeal Court didn’t decide on the legality of the decampment of the pro-Wike sacked lawmakers which is still subject of the ongoing court process
He said Governor Siminalayi Fubara has never been the aggressor, rather it’s the Wike group, that don’t want peace, adding that they will not succeed in it.
Ugochinyere said: “The judgement of the appeal court today is on the issue of the budgeting and issue of whether National Assembly should take over the functions of sacked Pro-Wike lawmakers.
“No Appeal Court decision has affirmed or ruled or decided on the illegality of decampment of 27 sacked Pro-Wike lawmakers. There was a discussion where the President said all legal matters should be withdrawn so that peace can reign.
“Wike group never wanted peace, looking for ways to destabilize the government. It will not work. The Governor being a peace loving man listened to the President, and withdrew his counter affidavit in that matter. But the Pro Wike group continued that case against the intervention of Mr President and that’s the issue the A’Court affirmed. But the issue of their decampment upon which the former speaker was declared vacant is still pending.
“This judgement doesn’t change anything. Oko Jumbo remains the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly. Governor Siminalayi Fubara has never been the aggressor it’s the Wike group, they don’t want peace, they want commotion. That commotion and anarchy they will not succeed in it.”
