Popular Nigerian actress Annie Macaulay has opened up about a transformative period in her life.
Speaking in an interview with Saturday Beats at the 17th Headies Awards, Annie shared the deeper meaning behind her striking green outfit. According to her, the look was carefully chosen to reflect a personal rebirth.
“I feel amazing. I was styled by Medlin’s boss and I am wearing Ankara of course. I love green. Green is a new beginning and the land is green,” she said, radiating confidence.
When asked if the color choice mirrored her current life journey, she repeated, “Well, Green is a new beginning and the land is green.”
The actress made a bold fashion statement in a stunning Ankara two-piece, layered with a bright green jacket. But her style wasn’t the only thing that drew attention — her stage presence sparked a buzz as well.
While presenting the award for “Best Afrobeat Singer of the Year,” Annie had a brief slip as she introduced herself: “Annie Idi… Oh sorry, Annie Macaulay. Hey, single ladies!” The crowd erupted in cheers, recognizing the moment as a clear sign she’s stepping into her identity with renewed strength.
Back on January 26, 2025, her estranged husband, 2Baba, publicly announced their separation after nearly 12 years of marriage. Not long after, he proposed to his new partner, Edo lawmaker Natasha Osawaru.
Despite the public nature of the split, Annie has chosen to remain quiet about the details. Instead, she is focusing on self-healing and growth. She is currently preparing for an upcoming wellness retreat in Dubai titled “Annie’s Journey.”
