Despite their long-standing political battle, the lawmaker representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the Nigerian Senate, Ireti Kingibe, has commended Nyesom Wike.
Kingibe made the commendation during the defence of the N1.78 trillion FCT’s budget.
According to Kingibe, Wike has been doing well and also presented a good budget.
“My commendation carries more weight than all your commendation,” Kingibe tells her colleagues who tried to prevent her from speaking.
When one of the lawmakers suggested that she be given a waiver to speak, the FCT Senator responded, “I don’t need a waiver.”
She added, “I as a senator representing the Federal Capital Territory, I want to also commend the minister. It is a well-presented budget, capital budget but I passed my colleagues to pass the budget but I also think that some issues should be discussed with the minister on camera.
“So, one thing, IDPs need to be… there are so many things, and details that the people of FCT or the representatives of FCT should discuss with the minister.
“I ask my colleagues that they should pass the budget as it is,” Kingibe said.
To this, lawmakers at the FCT budget presentation chorused, “seconded”, and they all rose, signalling the passage of
The budget.
