“Sweep Them Clean” – Tinubu Tells APC to Clear Out Opposition [VIDEO]

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has charged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to consolidate its political control by clearing the opposition fold, asserting that there is nothing wrong with a one-party system.

Speaking at the APC summit held Thursday at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Tinubu responded to growing criticism over the wave of defections into the ruling party.

“I just need to tell those who say a one-party system is no good…. You don’t blame a people bailing out of a sinking ship when they have no life jackets. I’m glad for what we have, and I’m expecting more to come. That is the game. Welcome to progress; sweep them clean,” the President declared.

His remarks come on the heels of a growing trend of high-profile defections from the opposition, including the recent defection of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his entire cabinet to the APC. Similarly, Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno is widely expected to join the ruling party in the coming days.

Critics have accused the APC of deliberately engineering crises within major opposition parties as a strategy to eliminate meaningful political competition and establish de facto one-party rule.
