A former lawmaker, Shehu Sani has criticised the 2025 International Agricultural and Investment Summit in Taraba State.
In a post made on X on Thursday, May 22, the former lawmaker while referring to the growing insecurity and renewed attacks by bandits and terrorists said a summit without security amounts to nothing.
He also stated that the problem with growing agricultural produce in the North does not lie with the farmers but with their safety.
According to Sani, no matter the number of summits organised in the region, until law and order are restored in the North, the challenges faced by farmers will continue.
He wrote, “Going to the farm is not the problem but coming back from the farm. Agricultural summits in the North are just talking shops until the full restoration of law and order in the rural communities.”
Recall that the Taraba International Investment Summit 2025 took place in Jalingo, the capital city of the state.
The event was well-attended by key dignitaries including President Bola Tinubu who was represented by his vice, Kashim Shettima; a former vice president, Atiku Abubakar and the governors of Bauchi and Niger states.
