Officials begin manhunt as Inmates escape from prison in Osun

Officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) have launched a manhunt for seven inmates who escaped from a medium custodial centre in Ilesa, Osun State.

It was gathered that the inmates managed to escape after rainfall damaged the wall of the prison facility.

The NCoS’s spokesperson, Abubakar Umar, explained that heavy rainfall affected the facility’s perimeter wall at about 2 a.m. on Tuesday.

Umar noted that the NCoS, in collaboration with sister agencies and leaders in the area, is working towards recapturing the escaped inmates.

He also said that efforts are currently being made to reinforce the perimeter wall of the Ilesa facility to avoid a recurrence.
