JAMB registrar speaks on marginalisation of Southeast, Lagos

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has said that there was no attempt by the examination body to marginalise any group or region of the country in the just concluded 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Speaking during a meeting with the management board of the exam body on Wednesday, JAMB’s registrar, Ishaq Oloyede said the error that marred the results of the 2025 which led to the mass failure from several candidates was a technical glitch.

Denying several claims that the examination board was set to marginalise candidates from states across the Southeast, Oloyede said 2025 UTME results were never intentionally comprised.

He further expressed his regrets over the error encountered in the results due to the technical glitch while stating that JAMB is committed to upholding the standard and integrity of the examination body.

At the meeting, the participants also held a one-minute silence in honour of the candidate who died in the course of the examination.
